Left Broome
and had a quick stop back at Roebuck Roadhouse love the ”stuff” in this place
very different.
Me with a couple of Brahmans!!!!! |
Headed off to Derby and stopped at Prison Tree and the bore
which has the longest water trough in the world “The Myalls Bore”.

We drove out
to the Jetty, which is renowned as Derby has the Australia’s highest tidal
range and the second highest in the southern hemisphere. Road trains drive out
onto this one too. The water is muddy here and croc infested not like Broome.

Headed up
the Gibb River Road and ran out of bitumen so stopped to air down ready for
corrugations. This road was originally constructed to transport cattle from the
stations and spans from Derby to Wyndham for 660kms. Nothing around except boab
trees (which I love) and anthills.
Thousands of anthills everywhere |
Drove into Windjana Gorge which has The Lennard River running through it but only flows for a short season. Went spotlighting for croc eyes and saw the large resident python hiding in the rocks.
