Left the
roadside stop early and off to Mt Isa. Crossed into Queensland and lost half an
hour. Drove through Camooweal and onto Mt Isa. Country was really dry and flat
until we came in to Mt Isa area. It is hilly and you can see the huge chimney
from the silver, lead and zinc mine as you approach the town. Went to info
centre and through the Riversleigh Station Fossil exhibition. One of the 4 most
important fossil areas in the world! Very interesting then up to the town look
out and back to do the washing.
