Not far to go today to Maryborough so spent morning in Bendigo. Went to beginning of Tram line and caught "The Talking Tram"right along the whole route. Very informative and the driver and conductor were great. Dressed in the old uniforms the track goes right through the centre of town. It was a transport route years ago but now operates for tourists, We ended up at the old Chinese Joss House where we had a good talk about the religions of the time and the customs still held by the chinese community today. As it is very old Chinese citizens come from all around the world to visit.
The Chinese Joss House
It was built in 1850s and made from hand made red bricks so it really stood out in the area.
We caught the tram back to town and went via the old Tram sheds where they restore the trams. Some very old ones and a lot of dedicated people doing them up. Nev found it very interesting they way they work.
Nev taking it easy!! The tram went past some lovely old buildings in town. |
