TUESDAY 10th APRIL

Very interesting drive today along the Murray River and we came to the Hume Dam.

Crossing the Murray and lots of areas of dead trees up stream from the dam.

It was the largest dam in the world when it was built and has been raised since the original height. A couple of kms wide and lovely views over Hume Dam and upstream.

We left the Murray and drove down to Beechwood. Wow what a beautiful little town. We had no idea about the town, full of lovely old buildings, trees just turning for Autumn and lots of interesting tales about Ned Kelly the bushranger. We decided to stay in a caravan park for two nights to fill up tanks do some washing. The park is on Lake Sambal so very nice.Went to the info centre and didn't know where to begin so bought a Gold Pass which let us into all the historic buildings and a walking tour of the town and a Ned Kelly walking tour.
We only had time today to walk into town and visit the Museum. Really well down and very interesting.

Main street of Beechwood all the buildings are very original with deep stone gutters along the streets.
Lake Sambal near the van park.

The lovely drive into the park.

Not feeling to good today so big splurge Chinese take away for dinner, very nice.
