WEDNESDAY 11th APRIL

Went into to town for 10.15am walking tour. Fantastic, the guide was great and we found out so much about the way of lives in the 1850's and the gold discovery in Beechwood. The old buildings are lovely, built out of granite and have lasted so well they look like new buildings.

BUTT BUTT tree used as a message tree in 1800's notes were nailed to the tree for other people and thus it has grown odd shapes. It is still full of nails.

This is the court house where Ned Kelly was found guilty and then sent to Melbourne for hanging. Nev is standing outside the prison cell Ned was held in.

In the main street there is a water fountain from the 1800's fed from a fresh water spring a few km from town so we filled up our bottles. Tastes great.

Nev standing exactly where Ned was sentenced his left arm shot to bits and missing fingers on his right hand he tried to look dignified. Special place lots of interesting stories.

We had lunch at the famous BEECHWOOD BAKERY YUMMY!!!!!

Drove around the Gorge drive so much history and lovely spots around Beechwood glad we decided to come down to visit.
