SATURDAY 12th MAY

Off to Kata Tjuta (The Olgas)  today to do two of the walks. thisarea is made up of 36 domes and means many heads. They are much taller than Uluru. We stopped at the viewing area on the way in.

The spinifex is in seed and looks like a silvery field in front of the Olgas.
We went to The Valley of the Winds walk first and decided to do two parts of it first to Karu Gorge 2.2km a moderate grade and then continue another couple of km to Karingana graded difficult. The colours and rock formations are incredible. It certainly was windy at the first spot and then we climbed to 2nd spot for a magnificent view.

Valley of the winds and one of the domes note my hair!!!!!!
Along the walk

Resting at the top and one of the many views colours vary with the sunlight all day.
Tonight was great we went to Champagne and canapes to view the sunset on the Rock by bus and then walk through the Field of Lights. We had bush canapes - crocodile quiche, kangaroo on toast, sweet potato pastries, prawn bites. A bit different!!!!

Pretty cold but lovely view from the sand dune.

A pretty amazing sight 300000 components and over 380kms of optical fibre.
It took 3900 hours to assemble on sight, it was transported from England.
A really great day again we have been so lucky with the weather!!!
